✨ What you’ll need

For the dough
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 75 g butter, melted
  • 50 g sugar
  • 7 g dry yeast
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 400 g flour
For the filling
  • 80 g butter, softened
  • 80 g brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cardamom
For the syrup (optional)
  • 50 ml water
  • 50 g sugar

🧡 How to make them

  • Mix & rise. Combine milk, sugar, and yeast; let foam. Add butter, salt, cardamom, and flour. Knead until soft and elastic. Cover and prove ~1 hour.
  • Roll & fill. Roll into a rectangle. Spread butter–sugar–cardamom. Fold like a letter; slice into thin strips.
  • Twist & shape. Twist each strip into a swirl or knot. Place on lined tray; cover; rest 20 minutes.
  • Bake & brush. Bake at 200°C (392°F) for 12–15 minutes, until golden. Simmer syrup, then brush warm buns for a soft glossy finish.
💡 Baker’s note: If your kitchen is cool, let the dough rise in an unheated (but closed) oven with a cup of hot water for gentle warmth.
